A UK regulator, Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), has received nearly 400 reports of serious pancreas trouble from users of GLP-1s, New York Post reported.
NYP reported that acute pancreatitis can many times be managed but it can also occasionally cause fatal complications.
There have been at least ten deaths linked to this condition among GLP-1 drug users in the UK.
“Sometimes genes can influence the sideeffects an individual experiences when taking a medicine,” the MHRA told The Guardian.
The MHRA’s chief safety officer, Dr Alison Cave, told The Guardian that "almost a third of side-effects to medicines could be prevented with the introduction of genetic testing."
