This study identified frequent underlying conditions and their attributable risk of severe COVID-19 illness.
Summary:
94.9% of hospitalized patients with Covid had at least 1 known underlying comorbidity.
64.2% of those hospitalized who had 6 or more comorbidities died. 0.9% of those hospitalized who had 0 comorbidities died.
Relative risk of death related to comorbidities:
- Obesity - 30% higher
- Anxiety and fear-related disorders - 28%
- Diabetes with complication - 26%
- Chronic kidney disease - 21%
- Neurocognitive disorders - 18%
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchiectasis - 18%
- Aplastic anemia - 17%
- Coronary atherosclerosis and other heart disease - 14%
- Thyroid disorders - 4%
